Terms and Conditions
The service offers planned outpatient appointments only. Dr Roberts is not able to offer emergency and crisis support outside the scheduled appointments. However, you can always contact us to request an earlier appointment and Dr Roberts will do her best to offer an appointment as soon as possible though these are not available on urgent basis. Should emergency and crisis support be required, please liaise with your GP, nearest A&E or call paramedics/police depending upon the urgency of the situation.
A standard initial outpatient assessment is 60-90 minutes and a follow up appointment is 30 minutes. However, please allow up to 90 minutes for an initial assessment appointment and 45 minutes for a follow up appointment.
An ADHD initial assessment appointment will take approximately 2 hours and a follow-up approximately 30-45 minutes.
You are responsible for payment of the costs even if your appointment is funded by your insurance company, employer, family member, friend or any other agency. Please check with your funder to ensure that the cost of the service including the assessment and follow up appointments is covered. Please provide details of your membership number and authorisation number in patient details form prior to the appointment if your appointment is insurance funded. Should your insurance company not cover the full cost of appointment, we will charge you for any shortfalls. Many insurance companies will not pay for cost of the prescription or telephone consultation which we will charge you directly.
We offer a private psychiatric service which is not funded by NHS even if the referral is made by your NHS GP. These referrals are treated as referrals for private care and we cannot claim the cost from NHS.
Payment should be made on the day of consultation – in certain situations and if necessary we will raise an invoice. All invoices are due for payment within two weeks of the invoice date. We will hold your credit/debit card details on our file which we will charge should invoice remain unpaid after the due date.

Please ensure that you give completed and signed consent form and patient details form at the start of the appointment to Dr Roberts.
If a family member or friend is accompanying you for an appointment and wish to offer additional information or discuss the treatment plan, they are welcome to do so with patient’s consent and with patient present after the individual meeting.
Dr Roberts would write to you after the appointment summarising the discussion and the treatment plan within one to two weeks. Please let Dr Roberts know if you would prefer not to receive a letter in post or if you would like a letter to be emailed to you. We are unable to guarantee security of clinical information sent to your email address. A copy of the letter will be sent to GP as per good practice guidelines and to the referring doctor, if not GP. The letter is a reminder of the discussion and the treatment plan for you and outlines Dr Roberts’s clinical opinion for the referrer. It is not a comprehensive psychiatric report intended for medicolegal purposes or for your employer though it is up to you to see whether it is appropriate for you to share this letter with other professionals, family members or external agencies at your discretion.
The consultation offered by Dr Roberts is with a view to assess the nature of difficulties and agree a shared treatment plan which meets your needs. If you have a specific request such as second opinion on a particular diagnosis or treatment plan, medico legal or occupational health issue or report for an external agency; please make it clear at the time of booking as this may require additional information and review of records prior to the appointment (which may affect the cost) or it may be the case that Dr Roberts is not able to offer such report or opinion.
Dr Roberts is not able to liaise with insurance companies to settle any disputes regarding insurance coverage. However, Dr Roberts will provide any clinical information requested by the insurance company for funding of your care for which you have consented. Dr Roberts also cannot source any funding from agencies to facilitate your treatment if the costs are not covered by you, your insurer or your employer.
A private prescription issued during your appointment is a cost of £15. A private prescription issued between appointments and posted to you will incur a £25 administration charge. Please note that pharmacy will charge you for dispending a private prescription depending upon the cost of the medication. For ADHD medication the cost is £40.
If you have an urgent query between appointments, please book a 10 minute telephone consultation via Dr Roberts’s secretary. One telephone consultation between the initial assessment and first follow up appointment is free and is part of the outpatient package. Any follow up telephone consultations will incur a charge of £50 for 10 minutes.
Dr Roberts is not able to respond to clinical queries and questions via emails. Please book a telephone consultation if you require clinical support between your appointments. However, you are most welcome to email Dr Roberts’s secretary if there are administrative queries such as issuing of prescription, appointments or referrals to other professionals.
Please note that under the hospital policy, Dr Roberts is either required to offer you regular review appointments or discharge you back to your GP when regular appointments are no longer required. Your GP can refer you again or if agreed with Dr Roberts, you can re-refer yourself and request an appointment if needed in the future if you are discharged from the clinic.
